Prize Postdoctoral Fellowships in Nanoscience

The Kavli Nanoscience Institute invites applications and nominations for Prize Postdoctoral Fellowships in Nanoscience.

In this open competition, strong preference will be given to applicants who propose research in interdisciplinary areas of nanoscience. Prior to application submission, support for the proposed research should be formally obtained from two faculty members in different divisions* at Caltech. The Fellowships are to begin in Fall 2008 and are for a two-year duration. They carry an annual salary of $55,000 plus $4,000 for research and up to $2,000 in relocation costs. The deadline for application is April 1, 2008.

This Fellowship Program has been established to offer scientists, typically within a few years after receipt of the Ph.D., the opportunity to pursue new and innovative experimental research at the frontiers of nanoscience and engineering. It is expected that this research will require the support and use of the facilities of two of the established experimental groups at Caltech. Currently, Caltech has groups working in Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Condensed Matter Physcis, Biology, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Quantum Optics.

Each candidate must be sponsored by two Caltech faculty members, and submit, as part of the application, letters of support from these faculty.

Please apply on-line by clicking here. You will be asked to upload materials to include your curriculum vitae, publication list with refereed publications clearly marked, and a statement of research plans. Three letters of recommendation and two letters of support from the Caltech faculty sponsors should be sent via email to: kni@caltech.edu. The deadline for application is April 1, 2008.

*Caltech has six divisions: Biology; Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Engineering and Applied Science, Geological and Planetary Sciences, Humanties and Social Sciences; and Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy.

Caltech is an Equal-Opportunity/Affirmative-Action Employer. Women, minorities, veterans, and disabled persons are encouraged to apply.
