On Friday, October 16, 2026, the Department of Applied Physics and Materials Science (APhMS) and the Kavli Nanoscience Institute (KNI) will co-host an exciting afternoon event for our alumni and friends.

The afternoon will consist of special remarks by our faculty and leadership, lunch with alumni, students, and supporters; tours of research labs and the KNI nanofabrication cleanroom facility; the unveiling of the new KNI historical display in the Steele Laboratory lobby; and a poster session with a delicious reception including beer and wine.

Additional Event: Saturday, October 17, 2026

KNI Director Andrei Faraon will give a special lecture in the Feynman Lecture Hall at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 17. This lecture commemorates the tenth anniversary of the KNI-Wheatley Scholarship in Nanoscience, which was made possible through the generous donation by Chuck (BS '56) and Judy Wheatley.

As the inaugural recipient in 2016, Dr. Faraon's talk will cover his research trajectory over the past ten years to present day challenges and what lies ahead.
